Parish V. Damone

Author of The Galactic Island

About the Author

Parish V. Damone is the pseudonym of Victor Damone McClendon, a Black author whose life journey is as powerful and transformative as the fiction he writes. Born in Milwaukee and raised in Louisiana, Victor graduated from Morgan City High School in 1984—the same year he enrolled at Southern University in Baton Rouge.

From 1984 to 1987, he was not only a student but a standout performer in the renowned Human Jukebox, Southern University’s world-famous HBCU marching band. His passion for music and performance was matched by a sense of service; he is a proud U.S. military veteran who received an honorable discharge after eight years of service, concluding in 1995.

In 2000, Victor earned his degree from ITI Technical College and transitioned into a career in industrial design, specializing in the construction of control room panels for major oil and gas facilities throughout the Gulf Coast. Victor is also a former hip-hop artist with roots in the 1990s New Orleans music scene—performing as M.C. V8 and later as M.C. Parish of the duo Surrender—his creative voice has always been shaped by rhythm, struggle, and soul.

The Galactic Island was written during Victor’s incarceration at Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola. More than just a novel, it is a labor of love—a father’s gift to his daughter, Brittney—and a powerful fusion of street wisdom, divine prophecy, and Black resilience. Victor draws on his lived experience, spiritual convictions, and deep cultural heritage to craft stories that reflect the fight between darkness and light in both the world around us and within ourselves.

A technician by trade and a storyteller by calling, Parish V. Damone uses his voice to uplift, awaken, and inspire. His debut novel merges urban reality with spiritual warfare, creating a bold new space for Black speculative fiction that speaks to the soul.
